New feeder service starts between SICT & YICT

[8 August 2002 - Hong Kong] - A new feeder service between Shantou and Yantian has commenced when the first vessel left Shantou International Container Terminals (SICT) on August 6 and arrived at Yantian International Container Terminals (YICT) on August 7, 2002.

The service operates three sailings a week, leaving SICT every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday and berthing at YICT on the next day. Export cargoes from Shantou are transshipped at Yantain and connected to line-haul vessels to worldwide destinations. It is a more economical mode of transportation than by trucking to Yantian.

Mr. Edward Tang, general manager of SICT commented, "Thanks to the co-operation of Customs of Shantou and Dapeng in Yantian, the new service commenced successfully. Following the opening of a regular service between SICT and Xiamen in early April, this Yantian service further strengthens our ties with other terminals of the HPH Group. We shall provide more options and better service to our clients and continue to foster international trade growth in Shantou City."
