Contract win reflects integration expertise, security track record and international presence
London, May 16, 2002 -- SchlumbergerSema, a business unit of Schlumberger Limited (NYSE:SLB), today announced it has been selected by Hutchison 3G to provide the security platform for the company's third-generation services. The deployment will initially be in the UK and later in other countries where Hutchison Whampoa has 3G interests.
Under contract, SchlumbergerSema will provide consulting, systems integration and project management expertise to support the implementation of Entrust software-based security solutions. Deployment of this platform will enable Hutchison 3G to offer customers secure access to a range of services, including news, entertainment and messaging.

2. Hutchison 3G
3G is a convergence of media, information and telephony which offers people access to information and entertainment services on the move, as well as more flexible working practises. The 3G standard (agreed throughout Europe, Japan, China, and the rest of Asia) is formally known as UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System). Hutchison 3G UK Ltd. ("Hutchison 3G") holds licence 'A' (a third-generation licence), which was issued by the UK government in May 2000. The licence consists of 15MHz of paired spectrum, and 5MHz of unpaired spectrum.
Hutchison Whampoa Limited holds a 65 per cent stake in Hutchison 3G, the other major shareholders are NTT DoCoMo (20 per cent) KPN Mobile (15 per cent).
