[3 April 2002 - Hong Kong] Two post-panamax quay cranes were delivered to Xiamen International Container Terminals (XICT) on 29 March 2002, strengthening the hub-port development of Hutchison Delta Ports (HDP) in Xiamen.
Manufactured by Shanghai Port Machinery Plant, each of the new quay cranes has a 52-metre (18 row) wide outreach and a 41-tonne lifting capacity. Following the previous delivery of 5 Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTGCs) in December 2001, the new quay cranes will enhance XICT's vessel handling capability by 40%.
Mr. Alfred Leung, General Manager of HDP commented, "The new quay cranes will accommodate the operation needs of Berth 4, with an additional 140-metre quay and a 78,000-sq. metre container yard in XICT. The increase in facility investments represents HDP's confidence and contributions in Xiamen's hub-port development."
