Hong Kong, October 8, 2001 - TOM.COM LIMITED ("TOM", stock code: 8001) announced today the appointments of Mr. Robert Xie as Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and Mr. Wang Lei Lei as Deputy Chief Operating Officer and Head of Online Operations. These two key appointments, along with other promotions, will strengthen TOM's management team.
Mr. Xie, previously Director of Business Development, has secured a number of major deals for the company since joining TOM in August 2000. As CIO, he will play a bigger role driving TOM's growth in Greater China through strategic mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Xie has over ten years' experience in private equity and direct investment in China.
Mr. Wang, General Manager of PRC Online Operations, joined TOM in January 2000. He has contributed significantly in achieving TOM's dominant position in China's Internet industry. Mr Wang will continue to focus on managing and integrating TOM's online operations. His appointment as the Deputy Chief Operating Officer represents the importance of the online operations to TOM's overall business and the company's dedication to be an online industry leader.
Mr. Sing Wang, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director said, "The expanded management team underlines our commitment to become the leading cross media company in Greater China."
At the same time, TOM announced six promotions of senior executives in recognition of their significant contributions to the company over the past year.
Ms. Angela Mak, General Counsel and Company Secretary, will be promoted to Head Corporate General Counsel and Company Secretary. Mr. Anthony Tse, Deputy General Manager, Corporate Development, will be promoted to General Manager, Corporate Development. And Ms. Rachel Chan, Deputy General Manager, Corporate Communications, will be promoted to General Manager, Corporate Communications.
Finally, three Senior Managers are promoted to Deputy General Managers in their respective departments. They are Michael Ng of Business Development, Jason Wong of Business Development and Christina Leung of Human Resources and Administration.
