to aid Pakistan earthquake
(Hong Kong, 10 October 2005) Hutchison Whampoa Limited (HWL) and the Li Ka Shing Foundation, in response to the terrible loss of life and property from the Pakistan earthquake disaster, will in total donate USD500,000 (two-third of the donation from HWL and one-third from Li Ka Shing Foundation) towards the relief of victims and rebuilding of the country.
HWL Chairman Mr Li Ka-shing said he was sad to see that the disaster has caused such a devastation in that country.
"Compared to the huge loss caused by the earthquake, our effort is but a small one. However, we hope it will help ease some pain and suffering. We also hope that people in Hong Kong will contribute in whatever way they could to help the victims."
