Jakarta, 24 May 2000 - Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT) today received its fifth new service of the year with the arrival of the "M.V Top Star" operated by leading intra-Asia shipping line, Hub Line. The "M.V Top Star" inaugurated a new weekly service linking JICT and the ports of Tanjung Pelapas and Port Kelang in Malaysia.
The new service is Hub Line's second service to call at JICT, Indonesia's premier container terminal. The choice of JICT as the port of call at Tanjung Priok for the service highlights JICT's success in stimulating the development of new shipping routes through the provision of high quality container terminal services. Since its inception, JICT has attracted on average at least one new service every month; this trend looks set to continue with the expansion and development of the terminal already underway.
The 370 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit), 6050 dwt "Top Star" measures 102m long and will call at the terminal every Saturday.
Commenting on the arrival was JICT Finance Director, Mr Stephen Ashworth, "We're delighted to have been chosen by Hub Line to handle this new service. JICT is committed to providing the very best in service and productivity to ensure the service's success . The service provides a new and exciting range of shipment options for importers and exporters and adds to more than 30 sailings every week from JICT. "
