(Hong Kong, 18 December 2003) Hutchison Whampoa Limited (the "Company") announces that Mr Li Fook-wo, CBE, LLD, DSSc, FCIB, FHKIB, JP will retire from his position as Independent Non-executive Director of the Company with effect from 1 January 2004.

Mr Li has served on the Board of the Company since 1977, and on the Board of A.S. Watson, a subsidiary group company in 1953. The Board wishes to take this opportunity to express its utmost gratitude and appreciation to Mr Li for his many substantial and invaluable contributions to the Company and its subsidiaries during the past 50 years.
