London - May 28 2003 - 3 UK today announced the appointment of Gareth Jones as Chief Operating Officer. In this role, Gareth will be responsible for the management of the Marketing, Sales and Distribution teams. This new role encompasses all the customer-facing elements of the business, including 3 stores, the contact centres, products and services.

Gareth, 45, was formerly group director of sales and distribution for Orange. He has over fifteen years experience in the telecommunications industry, having joined Hutchison Telecom in 1989 as Sales Director for their UK operations, he was subsequently appointed Group Director of Sales for Orange in 1993 and was Group Sales and Distribution Director from 1997 until 2001.

As part of that process and in order to ensure the review is rapid and thorough I have appointed Gareth Jones as chief operating officer.
