London - 3 UK today announced it had entered into an agreement with Reuters, the global information, news and technology group, for the supply of news and financial data to customers of 3's third-generation mobile multimedia and communications services.
Under the agreement, 3 customers will have access to breaking news stories, news archives, companies and markets news and investor data feeds. The information is immediately accessible from the main 3 homepage on the handset, and is updated in real-time via a live feed from Reuters.
3 UK strategy and marketing director Lisa Gernon said: "The dawn of 3G services marks the beginning of a shift in mass-market media consumption habits comparable to the emergence of television after a generation of radio. Our mobile multimedia products are designed to offer simple one-click access to in-depth information and entertainment content. Reuters is renowned worldwide for the integrity, depth and scope of its news and markets coverage and will play a central role in delivering on that vision."
Stephen Boyes, Reuters Head of Corporates and Media in UK and Ireland, said: "Reuters has a global network of around 2,500 journalists, photographers and camera operators reporting on the latest news stories every minute of every day. The 3 service will allow consumers to access our news and data, keeping them up to date with the world's news wherever they are. We are excited to have signed this deal, enabling us to take advantage of the latest technology to reach new audiences and consolidate our presence at the forefront of news."
