PARKnSHOP launches historic $100 million festive giveaway

(Hong Kong: Friday, December 6, 2002) Premier supermarket chain PARKnSHOP today launches a sensational $100 million package of recession-busting savings for shoppers - the biggest giveaway in town.

PARKnSHOP will slash prices on hundreds of products in 200-plus stores across Hong Kong, in a never-before-seen Christmas and Chinese New Year savings bonanza.

So far this year PARKnSHOP has already brought prices down on pork, introduced its Super Value Rice Bowl meals, and given senior citizens a 10 per cent discount on their shopping. This week, we've also launched our new range of super-value chilled chicken.

"But we're not stopping there," said Mr Ian Pye, Managing Director, PARKnSHOP Hong Kong. "On top of all of this, we're challenging ourselves to see how low we can go on prices - and today we're launching the biggest and best deal in town.

"We're slashing prices on literally hundreds of items. Thanks to this Lowest Price Guarantee campaign, we estimate that over the next two months, we'll be passing on a fantastic $100 million in savings to our customers," Mr Pye said.

Prices on a huge range of products are being cut by 20, 30, 40 and 50 per cent.

That already represents the best deal in town. But there's even more. As a double bonus, PARKnSHOP wants to go even further, so we're offering a terrific range of 'buy one, get one free' deals.

PARKnSHOP is ready to back its Lowest Price Guarantee with hard cash. If a customer finds any of our discounted products cheaper in another Hong Kong supermarket, we'll refund DOUBLE the difference.

That all adds up to unbeatable quality at low, low prices. Guaranteed.

And the same guarantee continues to apply to PARKnSHOP's massively successful PriceWatch campaign, in which selected products in each store are marked with a yellow label.

PARKnSHOP is planning extensive media coverage to promote its great new low prices - on TV, in the press and on buses.

In our stores, yellow decorations will draw shoppers' attention to the best bargains on offer at our super-low prices. Goods bearing the famous PARKnSHOP yellow label will be piled high around all PARKnSHOP stores.

"Quite simply, PARKnSHOP is launching an unbeatable, value-for-money campaign as we head into Christmas and Chinese New Year," said Mr Pye.

The campaign comes in response to customers' demands for even better value for money during these tough economic times - without having to compromise on the PARKnSHOP freshness and quality they have come to count on.

Some examples of great savings are Clean and Soft 10 packs toilet rolls at $19.50, PARKnSHOP Frozen Mid Joint Wings 4lb at $34.90, Mr Juicy 1.75 litre with a bonus pack of 700ml at $21.90 and Amoy Dim Sum at $6.90, prices are incredible low, even lower than last year promotion.

"During these difficult times, our customers' priorities matter more than ever, and once again we're taking the lead in responding to shoppers' needs," Mr Pye said.

"We can't turn the economy around, but we do hope that through this exciting, cost-cutting campaign, we can at least help shoppers get much, much more for their hard-earned cash."
